The Electric Car Scheme and Allstar have partnered to drive awareness of salary sacrifice EV charging across the UK fleet sector.

The collaboration brings The Charge Scheme, a salary sacrifice solution for personal EV charging costs, to Allstar customers.

Run by EV sal-sac specialist The Electric Car Scheme, the Charge Scheme further cuts EV running costs by enabling employees to save on personal charging, whether at home or on the public network.

Available as an employee benefit for company car users, the solution enables staff to access savings of around 20-50% on all personal mileage charging costs through pre-tax salary deductions.

The scheme simplifies personal and business mileage reporting by clearly separating real personal costs from business mileage. It includes a charging card and app for easy access and management, and integrates with existing payroll systems.

It also supports EV adoption for drivers who do not have access to off-street parking by including Allstar’s electric charging payment network for businesses, which encompasses more than 67,000 chargers.

Tom Rowlands, managing director of global EV Solutions at Allstar parent Corpay, said: “We know that the number of company car users is growing year on year, with 840,000 employees paying company car tax in 2023/24, and it was important to be able to support this unique sub-sector through our partnership with The Electric Car Scheme, with significant cost saving options, ease of use and a convenient model to manage their professional and personal usage.”

Companies don’t need to be an existing Electric Car Scheme customer to access the service.

Fleets using the scheme include Europa Worldwide Group. One of the UK’s largest transport and logistics companies with over 1,300 team members across 29 global sites, it’s reported strong results from the scheme.

Amy Gordon, Europa’s HR coordinator, said: “For a logistics company such as ours with team members constantly on the move, the ability for our staff to save substantially on all charging costs has been game-changing in encouraging the switch to electric vehicles. Several team members have already reported potential annual savings exceeding £600.
