Shell-owned Ubitricity has acquired FM Conway’s SureCharge London EV charging network, growing the Shell Recharge footprint by more than 2,400 charge points.

The transition began early February 2026, with all charge points expected to be rebranded to Shell Recharge within two months.

The move bolsters the Ubitricity Shell Recharge network across London. These charge points have been installed into lampposts across residential streets, and charge at a speed of 4.8kW per hour, particularly suited for overnight EV charging by drivers without driveways.

Ubitricity is the largest charging operator in the UK, and this takeover brings the full network total to over 14,000 charge points across 30 UK local authorities.

The expansion follows a year of strong growth, including deployments of 2,000 charge points in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, more than 500 in Waltham Forest and 560 charge points across Birmingham.
