EO Charging says it’s completed the UK’s largest single-site charge point installation for Gnewt Cargo.

The last-mile city logistics operator commissioned EO Charging to install a total of 63 smart chargers to keep its fully electric fleet – which comprises around 100 vehicles – on the road.

With the help of the Mayor of London’s office, the business won a share of £20m funding from Innovate UK to reduce fleet emissions. £1.1m was awarded under the Low Emission Freight and Logistics Trial, which seeks to cut emissions and improve air quality, and was granted to Gnewt to lease 33 electric vehicles and install chargers to support the vehicles.

The 63 EO smart-chargers – which include 40 on one site – are connected by two eoHUB‘s, using a charging system designed by The Phoenix Works. The solution also makes use of the latest EO Charging smart charging solutions including advance load management, priority charging and demand side response.

Sam Clarke, founder and now head of business development at Gnewt Cargo, said: “Gnewt has been through a rapid growth phase over the last eight years of trading which in turn has put greater focus on the way in which our ever-increasing electric fleet recharges. I was impressed how EO tackled this unique challenge and how the innovative yet cost-effective solution was presented.”
