Clean energy tech firm UrbanChain has secured a major renewable energy agreement to power Believ’s nationwide electric vehicle charging network expansion.

The three-year deal builds upon an agreement first signed in 2025 and will see UrbanChain continue supplying Believ’s 2,400+ charge points with transparently sourced, competitively priced renewable energy, matched on a half-hourly basis.

Crucially, this new model enables local authorities and partners to link local generation directly to local charging infrastructure – bringing greater price stability and traceability to a rapidly scaling system.

Through UrbanChain’s private energy market, the renewable supply is transparently sourced, competitively priced and matched on a half-hourly basis, providing the price stability and traceability that public-sector partners and investors increasingly require. This gives Believ the flexibility to source local renewable power where it exists, while maintaining secure, infrastructure-level supply across its national footprint.

Believ, backed by £300m of investment from Liberty Global and Zouk Capital, which manages the Treasury-backed Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund, currently operates more than 2,400 live charge points nationwide. Wherever possible, these will be supplied with locally generated clean energy through UrbanChain private markets.

UrbanChain, which operates Europe’s first private energy market, was recently ranked as the third fastest-growing UK technology company in the Deloitte Fast 50.

With Believ expanding through partnerships with councils including Leeds and Plymouth, the agreement underpins a major phase of EV infrastructure deployment, while showcasing a new model for how clean energy can be delivered at scale.
