Small eLCVs rose, on average, by 3.1% while electric medium vans increased by 1.2% at three years and 60,000 miles, according to Solera Cap HPI’s November LCV market report. Contrasting with this, diesel LCV values fell by 2.2% over the same age and mileage benchmark.
The wider used LCV market also weakened in November, with Solera Cap HPI cutting guide values by 1.9% at three years and 60,000 miles and by the same amount overall. It was the largest monthly reduction recorded in 2026, taking the cumulative fall in used LCV guide values to 11.5% for the year.
Rising diesel prices are prompting more van operators to turn to electric vehicles, according to Cap HPI, although concerns over battery health and repair costs are affecting prices at auction.
Ken Brown, LCV valuations editor, said: “Higher diesel prices are making used electric vans more attractive to operators looking to reduce running costs. We’re seeing more interest in these vehicles, but buyers are paying close attention to battery health and bodywork condition. Repairs can be expensive and time-consuming, especially when replacement parts are hard to source. Buyers are factoring those risks into their bids.”
Auction results show a considerable difference between the prices achieved by electric vans in good condition and those needing repairs, with some lower-grade electric vans selling for around half their guide values during the month. Vans with battery health readings below 90% of their original capacity are also proving harder to sell.
Brown finished: “Buyers want reassurance about battery condition and repair costs before committing to a purchase. Vendors with vehicles that need work will have to be realistic about the prices they can achieve.”
