Volvo has given the Black Edition treatment to its EX30 small electric SUV with the launch of a new variant.
Priced from £40,060, it’s available across single and twin motor versions, as well as the Plus and Ultra grades, adding in style-focused features.
Despite the extra features, pricing is only marginally higher for Plus versions while the Ultra editions are priced the same as the standard variants.
Available for order in the UK now, the Black Edition styling delivers high-gloss black 19-inch wheels and tinted rear windows. The front grille strikethrough, iron mark, rear Volvo script and model name badge are also picked out in high-gloss black, alongside the colour-coordinated roof spoiler and door mirror covers.
It’s solely available with metallic Onyx Black paint and the Indigo interior theme. The sporty cabin in deep blue indigo with studio-inspired textile materials and upcycled denim trim is exclusive to the Black Edition.
Equipment on the Plus trim includes safety sensing technology with up to five radars, five cameras and 12 ultra-sonic sensors continuously monitoring the car’s surroundings to help support the driver. Other kit includes adaptive cruise control and a powered tailgate.
Inside, the Black Edition features Volvo’s air quality measurement and remote cabin air pre-cleaning and a 12.3-inch centre display, as well as a wide range of driver comfort and support technology.
Despite the design additions, pricing is only marginally upped for Black Edition versions with the Plus grade and stays the same for Ultra versions.
Black Editions equipped in Single Motor Extended Range Plus form are a £700 uplift at £40,060 versus £39,360 for the standard model.
In Twin Motor Performance Plus guise, the Black Edition is a £500 uplift at £42,860 versus £42,360.
And pricing for Ultra versions is the same as the standard models; the Black Edition Single Motor Extended Range starts at £43,360 while the Twin Motor Performance is £45,860.
In Single Motor Extended Range form, the EX30 comes as standard with a heat pump, can cover a maximum of 295 miles (combined WLTP) between charge and has a 0-62 mph in 5.3 seconds.
The Black Edition isn’t available for the entry-level Core grade or the base Single Motor powertrain.
Following the introduction of the Black Edition in 2023 on the XC60, the EX30 becomes the latest model to receive the treatment.
The EX30 was the UK’s 10th best-selling battery electric vehicle in 2025, and the arrival of the Black Edition is expected to further increase its appeal.
Rob Deane, commercial operations director at Volvo Car UK, said: “The Black Edition variants of our models have struck a chord with buyers in the past and the EX30 looks really striking with the design additions, giving it even more presence.”
The Black Edition is now available across six models: XC90, XC60, XC40, EX40, EC40 and EX30.
