Webfleet Solutions to launch major new EV telematics tools
Webfleet Solutions is to introduce some significant new electric vehicle features on its updated telematics solution, bringing further support for fleets already running EVs or looking to introduce them.
The Webfleet solution was updated with EV-focused features earlier this year and the next release, due worldwide from mid-October, will majorly advance this.
The solution already brings real-time information on charge levels, driving range and remaining charging time, giving fleet managers remote insights to help them optimise EVs – as recognised by the firm having been awarded the German Telematik Award 2020.
Webfleet also provides customers with information of their existing fleet regarding fuel consumption, driving behaviour, past trips, mileage and other crucial data points. This data can help customers to understand better which combustion engine vehicles can be easily replaced by an EV.
The new, enhanced EV features further support fleet managers in the electrification of their fleet and maximising their cost-saving potentials. Locations of charging points will be available on the Webfleet map which can be displayed to the driver on the PRO Driver terminals. The visibility of nearby charging stations and the remaining driving range of EVs help fleet managers to further optimize their workforce planning.
Thanks to new notifications, customers can also stay informed when the battery of a vehicle reaches a critical level during operation and needs to be recharged. Webfleet Solutions provides all this vehicle data via their open API interface.
Taco van der Leij, vice president of Webfleet Solutions Europe, said: “EVs will become a crucial part of all fleets – however, adapting to new processes and planning is not always easy. We will continue to support our customers to master the needed transformation.”
