Zenith has launched the latest edition of its EVXperience report, revealing soaring EV confidence and loyalty among existing EV drivers but a stubborn cohort of ICE drivers still refusing to switch.
The fourth edition of the EVXperience Report points to increasing satisfaction in electric mobility
The fourth edition of the EVXperience Report (EVX4) draws on feedback from more than 3,000 Zenith EV drivers and points to increasing satisfaction in electric mobility.
Nine in 10 (88%) respondents say they are happy with their EV, and 72% report they would not return to petrol or diesel. Confidence in long-distance travel is also improving, with 70% of drivers now comfortable taking their EV on extended journeys, reinforcing a continued easing of ‘range anxiety’.
A closer look at the report’s Key Experience Indicators (KEI) shows a “stable and maturing” BEV experience. The overall KEI score has risen to 8.05 in 2026 – the strongest since 2023. Drivers continue to rate running costs (8.2), driving experience (8,84) and safety and reliability (8.53) highly, while range satisfaction has increased to 7.68 (vs 6.86 in 2025), aligning closely with drivers’ increased confidence taking longer journeys.
Zenith said the combined uplift signals that improvements in vehicle efficiency, smarter journey planning tools and greater driver familiarity are working together to progress real-world usability.
EVs also remain central to household mobility, with 93% of respondents using their EV as their primary vehicle, and one in 10 owning a secondary electric vehicle.
But the research, carried out with specialists, The Harris Poll UK and incorporating a comparative survey of 2,000 petrol and diesel drivers, also shows that converting non-EV drivers remains a challenge.
A quarter (25.6%) of ICE drivers have no imminent plans to switch, and 23.7% do not plan to transition at all, highlighting where further progress is still needed.
The report offers an in-depth look at the day-to-day realities of running an electric vehicle, and how driver attitudes are evolving year-on-year.
Andy Wolff, MD of Zenith’s Corporate division
Andy Wolff, managing director of Zenith’s Corporate division, said it’s Zenith’s clearest snapshot yet of what life with an EV really looks like for drivers across the UK.
“This year’s results show clear progress in how drivers experience their vehicles, from rising confidence in range, to consistently strong satisfaction of the safety and quality of the drive. As the market continues to shift, towards electric, our EVX Report provides valuable clarity on what’s working well, and where further support is needed to accelerate the transition.”
Zenith will also release additional insights and deeper analysis in the coming weeks, delving into the day-to-day realities of driving an electric vehicle, while looking at how attitudes and trends are changing over time
The leasing, fleet management and vehicle outsourcing business commissioned research practitioners The Harris Poll to conduct an independent survey of 3,059 of its electric car customers across its corporate lease businesses between 19 January and 5 February 2026. References to last year’s EVX report relate to data collected between 29 January 2025 and 17 February 2025.
