BYD has uncovered its Dolphin Cargo e-Van as the Chinese brand confirms its expansion into UK commercial vehicle sales.

Unveiled ahead of its showcase at next week’s CV Show 2026, the new eLCV entrant is a van conversion of the popular Dolphin electric hatchback.

The new model takes the all-electric hatch as its starting point, stripping out the rear seats and replacing them with a solid bulkhead and a re-engineered rear floor. This creates a commercial vehicle with over 1,000 litres of load space, along with up to 347 miles of range (on the City WLTP cycle).

It’s the latest entrant to the UK’s fast-expanding electric car-derived van sector, following recent announcements about Volvo’s new EX30 Cargo and the Ford Explorer Van.

BYD says the Dolphin Cargo e-Van is its first model to start commercial sales in the UK. The van newcomer builds on the success of its passenger vehicles – in Q1 2026, BYD recorded 21,337 registrations, earning a new car market share of 3.98%.

The Dolphin Cargo e-Van will be the star of BYD’s stand at the CV Show next week. Mediafleet, a specialist in the supply of vehicle graphics to the commercial fleet industry, will showcase the vehicle on stand 5C40, accompanied by BYD Corporate fleet representatives. The Dolphin Cargo e-Van on display also features a lightweight racking solution by Modul-System.
