BCA opens remarketing industry-first Battery Repair Centre in Doncaster

BCA has launched the UK remarketing industry’s first dedicated Battery Repair Centre at its Doncaster site, focusing on out-of-warranty electric and hybrid vehicles.

The site offers a wide range of battery repairs for full EVs and hybrids entering the remarketing process when the warranty has expired or become invalidated

The facility – managed by BCA Fleet Solutions – offers a wide range of battery repairs for electric vehicles and hybrids entering the remarketing process, when the manufacturer warranty has expired or become invalidated.

Compatible with all makes and models, the comprehensive service range includes advanced diagnostics, insulation testing, cell balancing and module repair or replacement. The facility also handles casing repairs, high-voltage component fixes, drive motor replacements and DC charger and inverter repairs, utilising green parts wherever available.

Repairs are carried out to OEM standards and provide a comprehensive and cost-effective solution for BCA’s customers, ensuring EVs and hybrids can be assessed, repaired and then offered for sale promptly and in the best possible condition.

BCA additionally carries out onsite battery repair at the Renault Import Centre in Portbury, supporting Renault UK with traction battery maintenance facilities.

EVs have been the strongest performing sector at auction for many months in terms of demand and price performance. BCA averages over 1,000 EV sales every week with online sales staged daily, including weekends. Top sellers by volume include Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model Y, Jaguar I-Pace, Mini Electric, Kia Niro EV and the Nissan Leaf, across a robust buying demographic that sees consistent sales at every age group.

Paul Bromley, managing director of BCA Fleet Solutions, said: “The new BCA Battery Repair Centre provides a one-stop solution for electric vehicle repairs for our customers.

“Rather than simply replacing expensive batteries, we investigate the cause and repair or replace components, delivering a cost-effective and timely solution that means EVs and hybrid vehicles can be repaired and offered for sale without undue delay. This helps to foster a circular economy, driving ESG goals and ensuring these vehicles reach the market in the best possible condition to attract buyers.”

The Battery Repair Centre launch builds on BCA’s ongoing strategy to enhance its EV sector services. Late in 2024, the company introduced an EV battery report service in partnership with global leader Aviloo. By grading batteries from A to E, this reporting service delivers significantly higher conversion rates, improved average values and shorter times to sale for both electric passenger cars and electric LCVs.

Complementing these services, the specialist BCA EV/Hybrid Assured Report evaluates the vehicle’s charging capability, inspects the charge port condition and verifies the availability of charging cables. This provides trade buyers with the comprehensive details required to make informed purchasing decisions.

Bromley added: “BCA continues to lead the remarketing sector in adapting to the changing needs of the automotive industry as it moves towards widespread electrification and the rising volume of software-defined vehicles.”
