Changan has broadened its UK line-up with the Deepal S05 Ultra PHEV, introducing a plug-in hybrid option to its compact SUV range.
Open for orders now, the Deepal S05 Ultra PHEV joins the all-electric Deepal S05 and Deepal S07 in Changan’s expanding UK portfolio, targeting drivers who aren’t yet ready for a fully electric model.

Priced from £32,990 for the Pro and £34,990 for the Max trims, the plug-in hybrid model comes in £5,000 lower than its all-electric sibling.
The powertrain combines a 234hp motor with an 86hp 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 259hp of total power and 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds.
The 18.4kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery delivers up to 62 miles of pure electric range and enables a combined range of over 648 miles on the WLTP cycle.
Weighted combined fuel consumption is 139mpg, while fuel consumption with a depleted battery is 52.3mpg. Weighted combined CO2 emissions are 47g/km.
It’s backed by Changan’s seven-year/100,000-mile vehicle warranty and eight-year/124,000-mile battery warranty.
The new plug-in hybrid model carries over the exterior design of the Deepal S05, styled at Changan’s European design centre in Turin, Italy.
The interior comes as standard with a 15.4-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, online navigation, voice control, over-the-air (OTA) updates, vegan leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, a 360-degree camera with ‘Transparent Chassis’ view and eight speakers.
The Max grade adds tiltable functionality for the touchscreen, an augmented reality head-up display, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats with memory and comfort entry, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, 64-colour ambient lighting, 50W wireless smartphone charging and a 14-speaker sound system.
The boot delivers 552 litres of space with the rear seats in place, rising to 1,310 litres with them folded. The vehicle can tow up to 1,600kg braked with an optional tow bar.
The all-electric Deepal S05 scored Euro NCAP’s five-star safety standard at the end of 2025, and the new PHEV model comes as standard with 17 driver-assistance systems enabling SAE Level 2 assisted driving, supported by 14 sensors including six ultrasonic radars, three millimetre-wave radars, four surround-view cameras and one HD camera.
Ethan Yin, executive deputy general at Changan Europe, said: “The Deepal S05 Ultra PHEV is built for UK drivers ready to make the move to electric on their own terms. It delivers real electric driving for the daily journeys, the commute, the school run, the shopping trips, with a petrol engine on hand for the longer trips. That’s how most people will make the switch to electric: gradually, and in a way that suits how they actually drive. We’ve made sure this car makes that switch easy, in a well-equipped, well-priced SUV built for everyday life.”
The Deepal S05 Ultra PHEV is available to order now through Changan UK’s nationwide dealer network of 60 sites. First UK customer deliveries begin in late October 2026.
