Char.gy has partnered with Allstar to simplify on-street charging for fleets, removing a major barrier for ‘take-home’ drivers who lack off-street parking.

The collaboration allows business fleet drivers to access and pay for charging using their Allstar cards at more than 5,000 Char.gy points nationwide.

The partnership aims to remove a major barrier for fleet employees who don’t have driveways, including commercial vehicle drivers, helping to simplify access and payment for fleets transitioning from petrol and diesel to electric vehicles.

Char.gy operates one of the UK’s fastest-growing public charging networks, primarily located on residential streets for drivers without home charging.

This network is now accessible to thousands of Allstar’s business drivers as the EV and fuel payments firm continues to support UK businesses with a single card and consolidated billing.

The move marks a significant step in supporting the UK’s transition to electric mobility by making public charging more accessible for commercial operators by ensuring drivers can reliably charge vehicles outside of depots.

Many fleet drivers take their vehicles home, but without access to private driveways or home chargers, they rely on nearby public charging infrastructure. Without convenient local options, these drivers are often excluded from transitioning to electric or forced to rely on rapid DC chargers, significantly increasing costs and impacting profitability.

Improving access to on-street AC charging offers a clear solution. By enabling overnight, lower-cost charging near drivers’ homes, fleets can reduce energy costs, improve margins, and support more sustainable operations.

Char.gy’s focus on residential on-street charging directly addresses this need, providing charge points where drivers live. Combined with Allstar’s widely used payment platform, the partnership allows fleets to support at-home charging behaviour without adding operational complexity.

Drivers must use the Char.gy app to locate charge points, start charging sessions and complete payment by using their Allstar card. By connecting Char.gy’s urban charging network with Allstar’s fleet payment solutions, the partnership aims to support businesses as they navigate the shift to electric mobility.
