Chester services gets new 300kW ultra-rapid chargers

Roadchef has boosted its charging hub at Chester services with six new Shell Recharge ultra-rapid charging bays.

The 300kW chargers are ready for use

The 300kW chargers are ready for use, streamlining EV charging for drivers travelling along the M56.

Equipped with combined charging system (CCS) connectors, the new chargers accept contactless payment, provide real-time status updates to popular car charging apps, and use 100% renewable energy.

The installation of the new chargers means Chester services now offer among the fastest charging speeds, and one of the largest EV charging infrastructure in the city.

The site combines multiple charging technologies, including both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, across 20 total charging points. Amenities include McDonald’s, Costa and WHSmith.

This latest expansion adds to Roadchef’s 5,160 rapid and ultra-rapid charge points available across the north west of England.

Paul Comer, director of EV implementation at Roadchef, commented: “The addition of these new EV chargers at Chester highlights our ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable travel and expanding the EV charging network across the UK. We’re delighted that our partnership with Shell has allowed us to enhance our charging facilities and continue to evolve to meet the needs of the modern motorist.”
