The South Shields firm is pioneering conversions from fully electric base vehicles supplied from all manufacturers, catering for growing demand from private and public sector fleets for zero-emission solutions.
Its all-electric line-up continues to grow and new additions include a Ford Transit electric chassis cab with a Derby Body conversion. Said to be the first conversion of its kind in the UK, the electric Derby Body is available with options such as rear closures and twin-sided sliding doors. The conversion comes with a five-year/100,000-mile warranty for design and manufacturer defects.
Converted Derby Bodies are already on the fleet at Newcastle City Council and used in the pedestrian area of the city to empty the waste bins with a dedication to sustainable vehicle solutions. The Derby Bodies are being used to make up to 170 bin lifts per day with 10 tips into a collection skip.
Vic Young has also designed a full range of electric conversions tested by councils and including drop-side cage tippers and wheelchair-accessible minibuses.
The all-electric Renault Kangoo drop-side cage tipper is already proving popular with commercial business users nationwide due to its efficient tipper mechanics, spacious storage solutions and low maintenance costs.
The electric minibus range from Vic Young Conversions provides bespoke travel requirements, particularly for wheelchair users. The company designed a fully bespoke, 100% electric Ford e-Transit wheelchair-accessible minibus for the National Trust, complete with automatic side step, electric rear tail lift and twistable seating.
Vic Young, managing director of the family-owned business, said the vehicles have been highly well received by councils seeking to enhance their sustainability efforts.
“We always look ahead with our conversion projects so that we can transform the market in new, exciting ways and I’m thrilled that our all-electric conversions are being well received by local authorities looking to improve their green footprint.
“I firmly believe the market is ready to go all-electric with vehicles for trade and industry.”
