Electra launches new 7.5 and 9.2-tonne eCargo platforms

Zero-emission commercial vehicle brand Electra has launched new 7.5- and 9.2-tonne versions of the Iveco-based eCargo platform.

The new 7.5- and 9.2-tonne eCargo platforms are available to order immediately

The introduction follows the success of the firm’s 12-tonne eCargo platform, used for more than four years across diverse applications, and brings the same technology to operators requiring slightly lower-weight vehicles.

Aimed at urban stop/start operations, municipal collections and a wide range of commercial applications, the new platforms feature a full-size cab that ensures enhanced ergonomics, more space and greater comfort for both drivers and crews.

Electra’s new eCargo platforms align with DEFRA’s upcoming food waste collection legislation, which requires all households in England to receive separate weekly food waste collections by the end of March 2026.

These vehicles are equally suited to caged tipper applications, thanks to their payload capacity, flexible chassis layout and cab design.

The new platforms offer configurable battery placement, allowing operators and bodybuilders to choose between external chassis-mounted or internal frame installations to meet needs. Configurable chassis lengths range from 3,330mm upwards.

Other key features include a 140kWh thermally managed battery pack, 150kW DC fast charging capability, LHD and RHD configurations for both domestic and export markets and an eight-year battery warranty.

The 7.5- and 9.2-tone eCargo platforms are available to order immediately, with demonstrator vehicles due on the road shortly for customer trials.

To celebrate this milestone, Electra is offering a free chassis with the first five orders placed in October (electrification package to be purchased separately).

Benjamin Smith, Electra managing director, said: “The launch of our 7.5-tonne and 9.2-tonne eCargo platforms represents a major step forward in Electra’s mission to accelerate zero-emission transport.

“We are proud to introduce another platform into our lineup which combines comfort, versatility, and proven technology. Our October launch offer – limited to the first five orders – provides operators with a unique opportunity to upgrade their fleets, while our eight-year battery warranty gives confidence in long-term performance. These vehicles are ready for today’s urban duty cycles and tomorrow’s regulatory landscape.”
