Mercedes has opened orders for the CLA Shooting Brake, heralding the first electric estate from the brand.

Launched just weeks after the CLA saloon, the second-generation CLA Shooting Brake “combines the elegance, sportiness and intelligence of the Saloon with an even more versatile interior with ample space for passengers and luggage”. Key features include 1,290 litres of luggage space, plus a 101-litre ‘frunk’.

First to arrive is the fully electric model in two configurations: the CLA 250+ and CLA 350 4Matic with EQ Technology, priced from £47,750.

As with the CLA saloon, the line-up will also include a 48V hybrid drivetrain featuring a completely new, electrified 1.5-litre inline four-cylinder petrol engine (M 252) and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (8F-eDCT). This will arrive later in 2026.

For now, the focus is on the all-electric CLA 250+ and CLA 350 4MATIC, both of which are equipped with an 85kWh battery.

The CLA 250+ Shooting Brake features a single rear-mounted motor, delivering 272hp and enabling a 0-62mph sprint in 6.8 seconds, and with the maximum electric range of up to 469 miles.

The CLA 350 4Matic Shooting Brake, positioned as the performance model, gains an extra motor on the front axle for all-wheel drive and a 0-62mph time of 5.0 seconds. WLTP range is slightly reduced but still comes out a massive 451 miles. The second electric motor is only activated when additional power or traction from the front axle is needed. The Disconnect Unit (DCU) quickly decouples this electric motor under low load, reducing front axle losses by up to 90%.

Thanks to the 800V architecture, the CLA Shooting Brake can take up to 320kW on a DC connection while AC charging is possible at up to 11kW.

The CLA Shooting Brake is available in Sport, Sport Executive, AMG Line Executive, AMG Line Premium and AMG Line Premium Plus specifications.

Every CLA is equipped with a 14-inch centre display with smartphone integration and an integrated video camera, powered by high-performance chips and real-time graphics from the Unity Game Engine. From launch the MBUX Superscreen, which adds a second 14-inch display for the front-seat passenger, is equipped as standard from AMG Line Premium specification upwards. All versions also come with a panoramic sunroof.

Optional equipment includes a trailer coupling with ESP trailer stabilisation (£950) and a direct current charging system (£850), which enables owners to charge their CLA Shooting Brake at 400V DC charging stations.

Deliveries start in the first quarter of 2026.
