Ford has boosted the E-Transit Courier compact van and its E-Tourneo Courier MPV sibling with a larger battery for more electric miles.

The electric compact van, designed for practical, affordable electric mobility, now swaps the previous 43kWh battery for a larger 46kWh pack. The enhanced battery means official WLTP combined range is now up to 207 miles (334km), which is over 10% more than the previous figure of 186 miles (300km).

The updated battery also means fleets and drivers can use Pro Power Onboard 2 for longer. The 400W system turns the whole vehicle into a mobile generator, so you can power tools and equipment through the 230V AC socket in E-Transit Courier’s dashboard, while the in-cab touchscreen shows remaining energy for peace of mind.

Ford Pro has also revised the charging system so more range doesn’t mean more downtime during the working day.

If you need a quick top-up while at work, you can add approximately 70 miles (114km) of range in 10 minutes using a 100kW DC rapid charger. For longer charges away from home or the depot, the same charger can take you from 10-80% in under half an hour.

For customers using AC chargers, recharging the E-Transit Courier from 10-80% takes just over three hours with an 11kW charger, or under five hours if you use a single-phase 7.4kW home charger.

Every E-Transit Courier now comes with a faster 5G modem for enhanced connectivity on the move. The modem means you can contact customers and stream audio, as well as use built-in connected features to find chargers and plan the most efficient routes

Ford has also upgraded the Driver Alert System in the E-Transit Courier to enable it to detect instances of impaired driving such as drowsiness, distraction, sudden illnesses or impaired driving. This supports fleet managers meet their duty of care requirements and can help to mitigate against incidents for drivers while at work.
