Arriving in Europe in the next year, the GV60 will be the brand’s second electric car, hot on the heels of the electrified G80 saloon. It will sit below the GV70 and GV80 SUVs already on sale and alongside the G70 saloon.

It’s built on Hyundai’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which is first making its debut on the Ioniq 5 SUV, and signals the brand’s quick pace plans for electrification, following its phased launch in Europe from this summer. A third electric car is also due within the year.

No technical details have been announced yet for the GV60 but it’s based on the brand’s ‘Athletic Elegance’ brand language and uses design optimised for an electric car, including a wider grille with a new wing emblem and featuring the same Guilloché pattern often seen in luxury watches.

The side profile is focused on smooth lines, with digital side mirrors and auto-flush door handles, while the rear features a fixed wing spoiler to accent the coupé-shaped roof.

The interior design of the GV60 adopts the Genesis ‘Beauty of White Space’ design ethos, maximising space and comfort, and is centred around a sphere-shaped electronic transmission control with mood lights.

The centre console is based around a ‘floating’ design to maximise the feel of spaciousness, along with the slim cockpit and flat floor.

Alongside unique design, the brand’s approach is based its ‘Genesis difference’ ethos. This works in tandem with its ‘Genesis Studios’ alternatives to traditional dealers and places “exceptional customer service over sales”, including through a dedicated point of contact – the Genesis Personal Assistant.

The brand’s ‘we come to you’ promise also provides home or office delivery and collection, removing the need to visit dealers.

Dominique Boesch, managing director for Genesis Motor Europe, commented: “When we launched in Europe, we committed to bringing three electric cars to the region within our first year; we are proud to confirm the GV60 will be our second electric car for Europe, following soon after the launch of the electrified G80.

“The GV60, Genesis’ first on a dedicated electric platform, will provide a totally new experience as a luxury electric vehicle based on our unique brand identity and will also benefit from our unique customer-focused offering where service come before sales.”

Full specifications, performance and European pricing of the GV60 will be released in due course.
