Honda HR-V to go hybrid as standard

By / 3 years ago / UK News / No Comments

Honda’s HR-V crossover is to go hybrid as standard in its third-generation guise under the carmaker’s plans to electrify all its mainstream models in Europe by 2022.

The third-gen Honda HR-V will be unveiled on 18 February 2021

Previewed in a teaser image, the latest version of the Nissan Juke rival will come with a hybrid powertrain, becoming the latest Honda to wear its e:HEV badging alongside the CR-V and Jazz.

The brand announced a year ago that it was accelerating its plans to fully electrify its range, bringing the date three years forwards to 2022 and supported by the newly unveiled hybrid-only Jazz

Honda’s plans are being underpinned by new global ‘e:Technology’ branding revealed for all future electrified products. The branding will be tweaked for cars to suit different powertrains; for hybrids, ‘e:HEV’ branding is being used, debuted on the Jazz and standing for ‘Hybrid Electric Vehicle’.

The two-motor e:HEV powertrain technology is said to combine high efficiency with refined, fun-to-drive performance.

The third-gen Honda HR-V will be unveiled on 18 February 2021.
