KGM Motors UK, formerly SsangYong, has secured the Government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant for the Torres EVX SUV, reducing its starting price to £35,495.
Both the Torres EVX and the Musso EV pickup now qualify for government grant backing, slashing prices
The electric SUV joins forces with the already grant-eligible Musso EV pickup, meaning both of KGM’s fully electric models now benefit from government grant support. The all-new Musso EV qualifies for the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant and is available at £39,995 including VAT.
The official funding support makes KGM’s entire electric line-up more accessible to UK buyers, slashing the upfront cost of moving to a zero-emission vehicle. Furthermore, the grant is incorporated into the purchase price by the supplying dealer, making the saving straightforward for customers without the need to make a separate application.
Ensuring the switch to electric doesn’t mean compromising on utility, the Torres EVX SUV pairs a zero-emission powertrain with rugged styling and generous interior space.
Powered by a 73.4kWh BYD lithium iron phosphate battery using cell-to-pack technology, the full-size electric SUV delivers up to 287 miles of WLTP range from a single charge. It also offers 207hp and 339Nm of torque, a towing capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes and between 703 and 1,662 litres of load space, offering all the performance, capability and space needed for work duties, family life and weekend getaways.
Vehicle-to-load technology allows compatible electrical equipment and appliances to be powered directly from the vehicle’s battery, while rapid charging can boost the battery from 10 to 80% in around 28 minutes using a suitable rapid charger.
The BYD battery comes with a class-leading 10-year or 1,000,000km battery warranty, providing additional long-term reassurance for customers considering the move to electric.
KGM also offers the Musso EV for customers looking for an electric pickup without compromising on everyday usability.
Priced from £39,995 including VAT and the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant, Musso EV is the most affordable electric pickup currently available in the UK. The savings get even better for fleets, businesses and company car drivers thanks to a 4% Benefit-in-Kind rate for the 2026/27 tax year, which drops personal tax costs to around £30 per month for a 20% taxpayer – the lowest Benefit-in-Kind charge of any commercial vehicle currently available in the UK. Combined with savings on fuel and maintenance costs due to the electric powertrain, it offers a robust financial case for business owners looking to slash whole-life running costs.
The Musso EV also pairs SUV-style comfort with practical load-carrying ability and all-wheel-drive capability.
An 80.6kWh battery, also sharing the same BYD technology, provides up to 290 miles of WLTP city driving range. Meanwhile, a dual-motor electric drivetrain delivers full-time all-wheel drive, 207hp of power and 339Nm of torque.
With a 690kg payload, 2.3-tonne braked towing capacity and self-levelling rear suspension, the Musso EV is built for work and leisure alike. Its vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality adds extra utility, letting drivers power tools and electrical equipment straight from the battery when working off-grid.
Kevin Griffin, managing director at KGM Motors UK, said “Making the move to electric needs to work for customers financially as well as practically. With Torres EVX now benefiting from the £1,500 Electric Car Grant and Musso EV qualifying for the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant, there is additional support available to help reduce that initial cost of switching.”
Griffin added: “At the same time, we recognise that there is no single powertrain that suits every customer, business or journey. KGM will continue to offer genuine choice across our range, from petrol and diesel to self-charging hybrid and fully electric. Our aim is to give customers the freedom to choose the vehicle and powertrain that best fits the way they live and work.”
KGM Motors UK offers a diverse line-up of SUVs, 4x4s, pickups and commercial vehicles, allowing buyers to choose between petrol, diesel and the brand’s latest Dual Tech self-charging hybrid or fully electric powertrains.
Vehicles range from the Tivoli and the self-charging Torres Hybrid and Actyon Hybrid, through to the seven-seat Rexton and diesel Musso range, alongside the fully electric Torres EVX and Musso EV.
