Kia has expanded its line-up of models eligible for the Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG), including the EV3 for the first time and a new EV4 Motion grade.

Cutting costs for electric drivers, the EV3 is now eligible for the Tier 2 discount, giving drivers £1,500 off the on-the-road price of both Air and GT-Line grades.

With the grant applied, the EV3 range now starts from £31,555 on-the-road for the Air Standard Range (58.3kWh battery), and the Long Range (81.4kWh battery) starts from £34,555 on-the-road.

The EV3 is the third Kia model eligible for the grant, joining the EV4 and PV5 Passenger that qualified for the grant in December 2025. Each model is only able to receive the grant if it meets strict sustainability and environmental criteria.

The EV3 launched at the end of 2024 with three grades: Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S. Most recently, a dual-motor AWD GT variant was also unveiled, adding a high-performance option to the line-up, with pricing and specification to be revealed later in 2026.

Kia has also introduced a new high-spec Motion version of its EV4 hatchback that scores the Tier 1 Electric Car Grant too.

Debuted following the successful launch of the EV4 last year, the new Special Edition model joins the Air variant in qualifying for the grant, reducing the on-the-road cost by £1,500.

Sitting between GT-Line and GT-Line S, the new EV4 Motion is focused on a high level of specification with key highlights including an eight-speaker Harmon Kardon Premium Sound System, bespoke cloth and artificial leather upholstery, outer rear heated seats, surround view monitor, blind-spot view monitor and electric driver’s seat and lumbar support.

It also gets the same 17-inch alloy wheels and exterior details as the Air variant, including body-coloured door mirrors and side sills as well as black wheel arches and silver window surround.

As with most grades of the EV4, it’s powered by a 204hp front-mounted electric motor and 81.4kWh battery. Details on range are due out in the coming weeks.

The EV4 Motion is available to order now, priced from £38,995 on-the-road, including the £1,500 Electric Car Grant.

The new Motion trim level will not be offered on the EV4 Fastback line-up and is available exclusively as a five-door hatchback.

The news means the Kia EV3, EV4 and PV5 Passenger all now attract the Electric Car Grant, enabling more retail and fleet customers to go electric.

Further ECG announcements are expected from the brand over the coming months – the EV2 is expected to qualify for both Tier 1 and Tier 2.
