Maxus dealer network expands into Manchester under Motus deal

By / 3 years ago / UK News / No Comments

The Maxus dealer network has expanded into Manchester under a tie-up with DAF Trucks dealer group Motus Commercials.

Gareth Kaye, franchise director of Motus Commercials’ LCV Division

It’s the first Maxus franchise for Motus Commercials and the wider Motus Group (UK) operations and will be operated by Motus Commercials’ LCV division, chosen for its depth of coverage and activity.

Based at Trafford Park, the site is adjacent to the existing Motus Group DAF Trucks dealership operation and officially opens this month for sales. Aftersales will follow in August.

The new franchise opens ahead of the Manchester Clean Air Zone due in 2022 and will target businesses looking to become compliant with a range of vans, including electric vehicles. Last year saw Maxus launch three new models, starting with the Deliver 9 revealed in summer 2020 and followed by two electric LCVs: the e Deliver 3 plus the e Deliver 9 announced in December 2020.

Gareth Kaye, franchise director of Motus Commercials’ LCV Division, said: “Maxus has a fantastic EV range and with our existing fleet relationships, coupled with the Low Emissions Zone due to come into force in Manchester in spring 2022, we anticipate that the relationship will be a huge success.

“We have already begun a long-term recruitment programme, and are content that, for now, any early pressure points for service can be safely and competently handled by other technicians on site. That’s one of the immediate bonuses of having two great brands side-by-side on this busy site.”

This addition increases Motus Commercials’ LCV representation to 15 franchised sites covering five brands, as well as five ‘Best Van Deals’ locations.
