MG Motor has capitalised on its 100-year British heritage by staging the world debuts of two all-electric concept cars at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The reveals signify the brand’s future trajectory, blending classic mid-20th-century design cues with advanced artificial intelligence and electric powertrains.

The MG Go! is a compact, B-segment battery-electric hatchback that previews a production model launching in 2027. Designed entirely at the MG Design Centre in London under design director Carl Gotham, its retro-futuristic styling is heavily influenced by classic models such as the MGB GT, MG Metro Turbo and MG ZR. The vehicle aims to bring genuine emotional appeal and distinctive charisma to the mainstream electric vehicle market.

MG has also uncovered its Cyber Concept. Conceived as a flagship expression for the brand, the new concept explores what a future D-segment performance SUV can become in the electric era. Led by vice president of global design Jozef Kabaň, the vehicle draws dynamic inspiration from the legendary EX181 land speed record car. The concept aims to unite everyday SUV practicality and usability with the high-performance dynamics traditionally associated with sports cars.

Kabaň said: “The future of automotive design is about creating cars with a strong identity that people instantly recognize and emotionally connect with. Great design should spark curiosity, excitement and desire. It should make people stop, smile and want to discover more. Our MG concepts express this vision for the future of the brand. Because great design is never just about the car. It’s about people, their experiences and their dreams.”

Beyond vehicle design, MG is hosting a daily Future Motion Show at its festival stand to spotlight its engineering competence. The exhibition draws on interactive performances by state-of-the-art robots to demonstrate the brand’s latest innovations in artificial intelligence, vehicle connectivity and autonomous driving tech powered by sensors, cameras and LiDAR.

MG is also displaying six of its current production and near-production plug-in hybrid, Hybrid+ and electric vehicles. The line-up features the new MGS9 PHEV, which is MG’s first seven-seat large SUV and the spacious, front-wheel-drive MG4 EV Urban hatchback. Visitors can also view the MG ZS Hybrid+, the tech-focused MG IM5 and the award-winning MG HS Plug-in Hybrid.

Proving their real-world performance, the MGS9 PHEV, the MGS6 EV and the iconic all-electric MG Cyberster roadster are all making dynamic appearances on the famous Goodwood Hill Climb.
