Nissan has officially passed a major milestone in its electrification journey, delivering its 100,000th electric vehicle to a customer in the UK.

The landmark vehicle, a Micra finished in Rebel Red, was handed over to customers Ron and Gillian Ainsworth at the Chorley Group Nissan dealership.

The watershed moment comes as high fuel prices in 2026 have accelerated consumer shifts toward electric models and marks 15 years of EV leadership for Nissan. The brand’s UK electric journey began in 2011 with the Leaf and now spans to the newly launched electric Micra, updated Ariya SUV and the third-generation Leaf.

On the commercial vehicle side, Nissan has been equally busy electrifying businesses, transitioning from the e-NV200 van in 2014 to today’s Townstar EV and its big brother, the Interstar-e – Nissan’s first-ever fully electric large van.

The carmaker’s future pipeline will expand further with the introduction of both the first-ever Juke EV, which will be manufactured alongside the Leaf at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, as well as an ultra-compact A-segment model arriving as a derivative of the new Renault Twingo.
