Motor Fuel Group (MFG) has launched Plug & Charge technology across 95% of its MFG EV Power charging network nationwide, in partnership with Octopus Electroverse.

MFG EV Power customers with compatible cars can now plug in and charge vehicles instantly

MFG EV Power customers with compatible cars can now plug in and charge vehicles instantly, removing the need for RFID cards, apps or contactless payment to start a connection.

Plug & Charge offers a simpler, smarter way to charge EVs via an encrypted connection. This enables secure, automatic authentication between compatible EVs and charging stations. Payment is then automated through the associated Electroverse account.

Plug & Charge connections require certain technical requirements and certifications are met, including for vehicles to be compatible with the technology.

MFG said its investment in Plug & Charge supports its broader commitment to making the EV transition as easy as possible for drivers.

Martin Symes, EV director at MFG, said: “By enabling Plug & Charge across almost our entire network, we’re removing frustrating inefficiencies and delivering the seamless, reliable charging experience our customers deserve. This is another major step in our ongoing investment to support the UK’s shift to electric vehicles, making MFG the first major UK network to deliver this game-changing convenience at scale.”

Matt Davies, director at Octopus Electroverse, said the partnership would make charging simpler, smoother and a lot more convenient.

“Charging your car should be as easy as plugging in your phone – and now it is. With Plug & Charge, drivers can simply plug in and go, with everything happening automatically in the background. No apps, no cards, no faff.”
