The Polestar 4 SUV is officially open for orders, delivering a more versatile variant alongside the updated coupé model.

The new version of the electric performance car brand’s most popular model drops the sleeker styling of the coupé while packing in more space, more range and a lower price. Polestar says it will bring its “performance DNA to a whole new customer base”.

Priced from £54,750, the new Polestar 4 SUV delivers a £2,000 saving over its coupé sibling. It retains the coupé’s striking, powerful stance and sleek profile, highlighted at the front by signature dual-blade headlights and an illuminated Polestar logo. To maximise cargo versatility and emphasise its SUV character, the rear has been completely redesigned with a straighter roofline and a more upright tailgate, while also gaining a rear window.

As a result, boot space rises to 655 litres when measured up to the inner roof and 1,665 litres with the rear seats down. That compares to 526 and 1,521 litres for its coupé sibling. Full-length roof rails further enhance practicality, increasing dynamic roof load capacity to 100kg.

Inside, the more upright design of the SUV’s rear-end offers an extra inch of headroom, along with a larger panoramic glass roof that stretches all the way back to the tailgate. An electrochromic glass roof unique to Polestar 4 SUV is available as an option.

The minimalist and technology-focused character of the Polestar 4 coupé cabin is carried over. A standout feature is the ambient illumination, which takes inspiration from the solar system and allows occupants to tailor the cabin atmosphere through a selection of cosmic themes. This is paired with the Star Knit fabric trim.

The cabin also retains the 15.4-inch landscape-orientated centre display and driver display, but there’s an increased number of widget shortcuts on the main display, rising from six to nine, alongside a broader selection of available shortcut functions.

Drivers can also choose a Harman Kardon Premium Sound system as an option, with 12 speakers and 1,400-Watt channel-hybrid amplifier. The system has been specifically tuned for the Polestar 4 SUV variant.

Alongside the rear window, the Polestar 4 SUV also gets a conventional rear-view mirror as standard. Customers who want a wider field-of-view, and unobstructed visibility with the luggage compartment fully loaded, can still choose the digital rear-view mirror that launched with Polestar 4 coupé. This is available as a single option.

Built on the same SEA architecture as the Polestar 4 coupé, the Polestar 4 SUV mirrors its sibling’s choice of two powertrains. The Rear motor variant combines 272hp and 343Nm of torque for acceleration from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds along with up to 391 miles of WLTP range, versus 385 for the coupé.

Sitting above this, the Dual motor all-wheel drive version is priced from £60,750 and delivers 544hp and 686Nm of torque, enabling 0-62mph acceleration in 3.9 seconds and up to 373 miles of WLTP range compared to 367 for the coupé.

All versions come with a 100kWh battery that supports DC charging of up to 200kW and AC charging of up to 22kW in selected markets.

The Polestar 4 SUV shares the same chassis specification as the recently updated Polestar 4 coupé. The brand tells us it’s been tuned to combine comfort and refinement for everyday use and long-distance travel with responsive handling, steering precision and driving engagement.

Drivers can also opt for a Performance pack with bespoke chassis tuning, recalibrated active dampers from ZF, high-performance Brembo brakes with callipers in Swedish gold colour, and a new 22-inch Performance-wheel equipped with Pirelli P Zero performance tyres. It’s priced from £68,250.

The interior gives an aesthetic nod to the drivetrain options based on the colouring of the seatbelts and the rotary control knob. While the Rear motor feature an all-black theme, the Dual motor cars has an added golden stripe on the seatbelt and the rotary knob. The Performance pack cars are visually the most striking with signature full Swedish gold seatbelts and rotary knob.

Drivers also benefit from vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, coming to all Polestar 4 vehicles, which enables the vehicle’s high-voltage battery to supply AC power to external devices, such as camping equipment, power tools and a wide range of consumer electronics.

The system can deliver up to 3.3kW through a certified charging adapter, available separately through Polestar’s Extras web shop. Users can power external devices until the car reaches a pre-set minimum battery level, configurable via the centre display settings.

The Polestar 4 SUV also introduces a new Camping mode that transforms the parked vehicle into a climate-controlled space at the touch of the screen. The function provides access to entertainment, ambient lighting and vehicle controls from both front and rear displays, supported by V2L power, USB-C connectivity and the 12V outlet.

The Polestar 4 SUV also gains Google Gemini as an upgrade to Google Assistant. This enhances the in-car experience with more natural, helpful voice interactions. Replacing traditional command-based voice control with an advanced AI model, Gemini understands context, supports multi-turn dialogue, and helps drivers complete more complex tasks through everyday speech.

In addition to vehicle-related queries, Gemini supports hands-free productivity through Gemini Live, enabling brainstorming, trip planning and real-time translation.

The Polestar 4 SUV is also marked out as one of the brand’s lowest-carbon vehicles to date thanks to targeted reductions in emissions across the battery and aluminium supply chains. Key measures include the use of 100% renewable electricity in battery cell production, aluminium sourced from smelters powered by renewable electricity accounting for 34% of total aluminium content, and 23% recycled aluminium.

Production of the Polestar 4 SUV has started in Busan, South Korea, and the first customer deliveries are planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
