Designed to compete with models such as the Kia Sportage, the mid-size, five-seat SUV will sit neatly between the compact Omoda 5 and the flagship Omoda 9 as the Chery-backed carmaker continues to flesh out its line-up.
Latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that Omoda UK, launched in August 2024, took a 1.45% share of the market in October and the new model advances its plans further.
Tailored “specifically for British roads and lifestyles”, the Omoda 7 will be available with a choice of two powertrains and two trim levels, with prices starting from £29,915 for the ICE and £32,000 for the plug-in Super Hybrid System (SHS).
Described as a hybrid that drives like an EV, the plug-in hybrid features Omoda&Jaecoo’s Super Hybrid System (SHS), which combines an 18.3kWh battery with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and is already seen in models such as the Jaecoo 7 and Omoda 9.
Combined power stands at 204hp with 365Nm of torque for 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds and a top speed of 112mph.
WLTP range stands at over 700 miles – including 56 miles in EV-only mode – and with a combined fuel consumption of 403mpg and CO2 emissions from 23g/km.
Unlike conventional PHEVs, the SHS also ensures the battery never funs flat.
It’s capable of fast charging at up to 40kW DC, enabling a 30% to 80% charge in 20 minutes, and also delivers vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability via a 3.3kW port.
The line-up will also include a 1.6-litre TGDI petrol engine with 147hp and 275Nm of torque, capable of 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds with a top speed of 118mph.
Design draws on the brand’s ‘Art in Motion’ and new ‘O-Universe’ design philosophy, uniting “sculpted aerodynamic lines with a poised, road-ready presence”.
Inside, all Omoda 7 models come with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. The main display is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8155 chipset and paired with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and over-the-air updates as standard. Drivers can also use the screen to see the 540-degree camera with transparent chassis view, as well as swipe down to control functions such as the 21 different ADAS systems and custom preferences.
The cabin also teams up “premium design with practicality”, offering three Isofix points and a 639-litre boot.
Specification grades are named Knight and Noble.
The base Knight trim is set up for a “strong value proposition” with premium technologies, such as heated eco leather steering wheel, dual-zone air-conditioning, six-speaker Sony audio system, cooled 50W wireless smartphone connection and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The high-spec Noble grade uplifts this with a 12-speaker Sony audio, gaming-inspired heated and ventilated front seats with six-way electric adjustment, power tailgate, panoramic sunroof and 20-inch alloy wheels. It also introduces an air-conditioning fragrance system and four-zone voice control – both are firsts for any UK-delivered Omoda.
Advanced driver assistance systems as standard include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and lane keeping, among others.
The Omoda 7 will be available through Omoda&Jaecoo’s UK-wide dealer network from January 2026.
