Ovo unveils all-in-one Charge app for World EV Day

Ovo is making it easier for electric vehicle drivers to power their journeys with a new all-in-one app.

The app takes care of charging at home and on the road

The new tool brings together public charging and Charge Anytime smart home charging into a single app for the firm’s customers.

It’s billed as a UK-first in domestic EV charging convenience, delivering a single app for charging at home and on the road.

The new app launches as polling from Ovo reveals that eight in 10 (79%) EV drivers say the system needs to be simpler and more user-friendly, with many juggling multiple apps to manage charging at home and on the road.

Nearly half (47%) say that easier public charging would give them more confidence to go electric. Others want better coverage on motorways (42%) and clearer guidance on how and where to charge (36%).

With the new and improved Ovo Charge app, built on Kaluza’s intelligent energy platform, customers can now manage every aspect of their EV charging in one place – including multiple cars in a household. Whether drivers are plugging in at home or on the move, OVO Charge gives full visibility, control and savings on every charge.

The Boosts feature is still included, carrying over existing savings on public charging.

Alex Thwaites, director of electric vehicles, said: “By combining Charge Anytime into the Ovo Charge app, we’re simplifying life for EV drivers. We’re the first in the UK to offer this all-in-one solution as part of our relentless commitment to make EVs the go to choice for drivers.”

Existing Charge Anytime users will be phased onto the new Charge app throughout September and October.
