Peugeot’s 208 supermini and 2008 compact crossover have been given a boost with a new range-topping trim along with powertrain enhancements for hybrid and fully electric models.

The new, crowning GT Premium grade sits above the GT model and upgrades technology with the Peugeot i-Connect Advanced infotainment system and Connected 3D Satellite Navigation, plus a wireless smartphone charger.

Uprated styling delivers an Alcantara ‘Iconium’ interior trim with heated front seats and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, complete with lumbar adjustment and a massage function, while the 2008 also gains 18-inch diamond-cut ‘Black Mist’ alloy wheels.

Driver assistance features also get an uplift, with standard adaptive cruise control featuring stop & go, lane positioning assist, front parking camera and blind spot monitoring with flankguard sill protection.

Powertrain upgrades boost the E-208 range to 268 miles (WLTP combined cycle) when paired with the 51kWh battery and 156hp electric motor; up by 14 miles and said to be the best in the segment. Range for the E-2008 with the 54kWh battery rises to 250 miles.

The standard 7kW and optional 11kW onboard chargers also get an upgrade with bi-directional charging capabilities that enable the introduction of V2L technology for the first time on the E-208, allowing customers to power devices using energy stored from the vehicle’s traction battery. V2L can provide electricity up to 3kW and 16A, and is available exclusively with the 51kWh powertrain on the E-208 and the 54kWh battery on the E-2008.

The E-208 and E-2008 GT Premium also feature a heat pump as standard for more efficient cabin temperature conditioning.

The 208 Hybrid continues to come with a choice of two power outputs, but power rises from 100hp to 110hp, and from 136hp to 145hp, respectively, reflecting the combined output of the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the integrated electric motor. The 2008 Hybrid is available exclusively with the 145hp version.

Prices for the new GT Premium trim start from £28,295 for the 208 with the 1.2-litre PureTech 100 six-speed manual, with 208 Hybrid versions are available from £30,100. The E-208 GT Premium starts from £34,000 with the 50kWh battery.

The 2008 GT Premium 1.2-litre PureTech 130 EAT8 is available from £35,095 and the Hybrid 145 e-DSC6 from £35,870. The E-2008 GT Premium is equipped with a 54kWh battery and is priced at £39,310.
