Roadchef and BP have struck a major strategic agreement that will boost ultra-rapid charging across the UK motorway network.
The motorway services operator will take over 12 BP-owned forecourts while rolling out ultra-rapid BP Pulse electric vehicle charging stations across more than 30 UK sites from 2027.
Under the deal, Roadchef will continue to sell BP-branded fuels and Wildbean Café products at the 12 newly acquired locations.
Meanwhile, BP will expand its BP Pulse footprint to help Roadchef achieve its target of 1,000 EV charging bays by 2030.
Tim Gittins, chief executive of Roadchef, said the agreement would significantly expand high-powered charging infrastructure across the company’s service stations.
“Under the UK’s transition to zero-emission vehicles, motorway service areas will play a critical role in improving the availability of en-route charging points. BP brings the scale, experience and delivery capability needed to match our ambition, helping us move faster, invest with confidence and make charging more accessible to drivers across our network.
“It will also bring BP-branded forecourts under Roadchef’s operation, strengthening our fuel and convenience food offer for leisure and HGV drivers. Together, these changes will help us serve more drivers and give the business the scale and capability to meet the growing demand for EV charging across the UK.”
