Suzuki has launched a new self-funded grant scheme that cuts prices on its e Vitara inaugural electric car ahead of its arrival.

Introduced following last month’s announcement of the Government’s Electric Car Grant, the ‘Suzuki Granted’ scheme is applicable across the five-model e Vitara range and mirrors the Government’s higher-level grant by offering a reduction of £3,750 across the line-up.

The scheme runs until 31 December 2025 and is targeted solely at retail customers. Additionally, Suzuki will offer a free Ohme home charger to customers ordering their e Vitara in this period.

The Japanese carmaker is the latest to launch its own self-funded scheme, following in the footsteps of Vauxhall, Fiat and others. Not all offer the full £3,750 EV incentive that the Government scheme will provide for eligible models.

Announced last month, the £650m ‘Electric Car Grant’ (ECG) offers discounts of either £3,750 or £1,500 off the cost of a new electric vehicle with an initial list price up to £37,000. It’s only available on vehicles that have been approved as eligible and the scheme sets stringent rules regarding emissions based on production, assembly and sourcing of materials. Brands from East Asia, including China, South Korea and Japan, are not expected to qualify.

Under Suzuki’s scheme, the price for the e Vitara 49kWh Motion model falls to £26,249, representing a customer saving of £3,750. Meanwhile, models with the larger 61kWh battery now start from £29,249 and the 61kWh Allgrip-e 4WD model is priced from £31,249.

Suzuki is fully committed to launching electric vehicles in the UK and Europe and, following e Vitara, will introduce a further four new models by 2030.
