Electric vehicles secured the top three spots for the fastest-selling used cars in the UK during June 2026, driven by an unprecedented three-month surge in demand.

According to the latest Indicata Market Watch report, motorists are increasingly turning to electric alternatives to avoid inflated internal combustion engine (ICE) fuel prices caused by ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The Tesla Model 3, Volkswagen ID.5 and Cupra Born were the fastest-selling used cars in June, with the Cupra Born making the top three for the second consecutive month.
Used EV sales accounted for just over 10% of the total UK used car market so far this month.
At the same time, the UK’s Market Day’s Supply (MDS) dropped to just 35 days, making it the lowest among the 16 European nations tracked by Indicata.
Despite this rapid inventory turnover, average used EV prices have failed to rise in 2026. Prices have remained completely flat since July 2025 and sit 11% lower than they were in January 2024, presenting an ongoing challenge for residual value setters.

Dean Merritt, Indicata UK’s national retail strategy manager, said: “Our MarketPlace online portal continues to see strong demand for used EVs, but high sales have thinned out available stock in the past couple of months. More used EVs taken in part exchange are now being retailed rather than traded with consumers and dealers very positive about stocking and in turn buying used EVs.”
As Middle East tensions show signs of calming, experts are watching closely to see if EV demand will hold steady or slow down once traditional fuel prices return to normal.
“Whatever happens there has been a step change in the perception of EVs over the past few months which has been very positive, at a time when the volume of used vehicles hitting the market continues to rise,” Merritt added.
