Volkswagen has boosted its ID. Buzz all-electric MPV with a bumper package of new tech functions.
Key changes for the electric people carrier include the arrival of vehicle-to-load functionality, thanks to the latest software generation. Drivers can now power external devices directly from the vehicle battery using the charging port via an adapter. This makes it possible, for example, to charge e-bikes or electric grills directly at the ID. Buzz on a weekend trip.
Other additions include one-pedal driving, which slows the car to a complete stop just through the accelerator and without using the brake pedal.
Alongside this, the ID. Buzz offers VW’s latest Connected Travel Assist as an option, delivering semi-automated driving that now also reacts to traffic lights – if the system detects a red traffic light, it automatically brakes the car to a standstill.
In a win for drivers, VW’s reborn Microbus gets a multifunction steering wheel with actual buttons to make it easier to operate important vehicle, cockpit and infotainment functions.
The new Innovision infotainment system will also be used in the ID. Buzz. A new app store is integrated into the system, which allows functions and services to be activated or expanded digitally, flexibly and on a vehicle-specific basis. As with a smartphone, popular apps are available for download – covering audio to video streaming, parking, charging and gaming.
The ID. Buzz also gets a new ‘Candy White/Cherry Red’ colour combo from summer 2026 while in mainland Europe, VW is also updating the ID. Buzz with a 340hp 4Motion all-wheel drive variant with an increased maximum trailer weight, but hasn’t yet confirmed if it’s heading to the UK.
