The centre has been kitted out with six 120kW ultra-rapid charging bays for EV drivers. The new facilities offer customers the convenience of topping up their vehicles while shopping, dining or enjoying leisure activities, helping to meet the growing demand for reliable public charging at key destinations, as spotlighted by the BVRLA’s Bon VoyCharge campaign.
Under the partnership, Zest funds, deploys and operates the charging infrastructure at the Kennedy Centre, reinforcing its commitment to making EV charging widely accessible in the places people live, work and travel.
The new facilities follow major deployments at leading UK retail destinations including Metrocentre in Gateshead, Merry Hill in the West Midlands and Frenchgate in Doncaster, as well as at Time Square in Warrington and Chantry Place in Norwich.
John Jones, centre manager at the Kennedy Centre, said: “Sustainability is a growing priority for the Kennedy Centre, and this partnership with Zest helps us make a meaningful contribution to cleaner transport across Belfast. We know many of our customers are switching to electric vehicles, and these new charging bays make that journey easier and more convenient.”
Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, added: “As a popular, forward-thinking destination at the heart of its community, the Kennedy Centre plays a vital role in making the switch to electric easier for drivers. By deploying reliable ultra-rapid charging at the places people already visit to shop, eat and spend time, Zest is making charging convenient and accessible, helping accelerate EV adoption and deliver cleaner air for local communities.”
