Geely has debuted its flagship Monjaro EM-i plug-in hybrid SUV, delivering a new rival to the Škoda Kodiaq and Hyundai Santa Fe.
Showcased to European audiences for the first time at the Paris Motor Show, the family SUV teams up performance, efficiency, handling, safety and “intelligent comfort” in a comprehensive, affordable package.
Named after Africa’s highest peak, the Monjaro is said to embody a philosophy of power, restraint and composure.
The vehicle introduces Geely’s advanced EM-i Super Hybrid technology alongside an available Intelligent Electric AWD system tailored specifically for mainstream drivers.

It features Geely Auto’s EM-i Super Hybrid system, already seen in the smaller Starray mid-size SUV. This teams up a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with either a single electric motor in the front-wheel-drive (FWD) model or dual electric motors in the intelligent all-wheel-drive (e-AWD) variant. Adding to its everyday practicality is a 6.6kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, which transforms the SUV into a mobile power source capable of running external electronics and equipment.
Built on the GEA Evo architecture, the Monjaro EM-i supports front- and rear-axle decoupling and torque vectoring, providing the foundation for its intelligent all-wheel-drive system, with faster data transmission, high safety and multiple powertrains.
The AWD version can also be specified with a Continuous Damping Control (CCD) Suspension System that responds in as little as 20 milliseconds, continuously adapting damping characteristics to road conditions. Drivers can select between Comfort, Standard and Sport suspension settings, while there are four different driving modes in the standard version, pure, hybrid, power and snow. The AWD version adds two extra driving modes: sand and off-road.
The Monjaro EM-i has a firm focus on active and passive safety. The SUV combines a high-strength body structure with seven airbags, Geely’s Battery Safety System and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies. The vehicle offers 13 Level 2 active-safety features, nine driving comfort assistance functions and a 360-degree camera with transparent chassis view, designed to provide drivers with greater awareness around and beneath the vehicle.
Inside, the Monjaro EM-i pairs flagship proportions with Geely Auto’s ‘Intelligent Comfort’ philosophy, using technology as a seamless tool to make every journey inherently relaxing rather than just a checklist of features.
There’s 633 litres of boot space, expanding to 1,532 litres, while a maximum longitudinal storage length of 2.8m and 34 storage compartments add to the everyday practicality.
The seating system features 11-layer composite seats, with optional massage function offering eight massage points, six massage modes and three intensity levels. Front-seat heating and optional ventilation further support long-distance comfort.
The Monjaro EM-i cockpit teams up a 15.4-inch centre display, 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an optional 25.6-inch head-up display.
The Flyme Auto in-vehicle infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the optional Flyme Sound audio system combines 16 speakers with a 1,000-watt amplifier and 7.1.2 immersive surround sound. Voice recognition supports 18 languages across four audio zones, with control of up to 600 functions.
The Monjaro EM-i comes backed by Geely’s UK warranty package. This includes comprehensive vehicle coverage for eight years or 125,000 miles, alongside a matching eight-year/125,000-mile high-voltage battery warranty that guarantees a minimum 70% state of health (SOH). Owners also benefit from a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty and four years of complimentary 24/7 roadside assistance across the UK and Northern Ireland. To maintain this coverage, vehicles must be serviced in accordance with Geely Auto’s official schedule at an authorised repairer.
