New details emerge about Honda’s first electric car
Details of Honda’s forthcoming first electric car, the Honda e, have been revealed including battery capacity and charge rate.

The Honda e will feature a 35.5kWh battery, enough to provide the rear-wheel drive car with a range of “more than 125 miles”, the company said. This compares to the 182 miles provided by the forthcoming updated Hyundai Ioniq Electric, which is equipped with a 38.3kWh battery, and the Nissan Leaf 40kWh that offers 168 miles.
The water-cooled battery offers drivers 0-80% in 30 minutes, Honda added, using its CCS2 DC rapid charge ability, or Type 2 AC connection. This should equate to acceptance of 100-150kW charge acceptance, although Honda has not yet confirmed the maximum charge rate.
Despite full specifications having not yet been revealed and the mass-production version still unseen, Honda has already accrued 31,000 expressions of interest across Europe, including 9,000 from the UK.
