Vauxhall has dropped a few clues to the future identity of its GSE performance models with teaser images of its inbound concept.
Released ahead of the concept’s debut next month at the IAA Mobility motor show in Munich, the images give a sneak insight into the brand’s plans for the GSE sub-brand along with the next evolution in the Vauxhall Compass frontal design theme.
Rumours are also rife that it could preview the 2026 Vauxhall Corsa.
While the name of the concept is still under wraps for now, the teaser shots reveal performance cues such as the GSE logo and track-inspired aerodynamic wheels. Other motorsport features include a slim racing steering wheel, lightweight driver’s seat and roll cage.
The new concept also pays homage to historic and iconic motorsport vehicles such as the Opel Manta 400 rally car through subtle features such as the wheel design.
Elsewhere, the images confirm that the concept car will tie in with Vauxhall’s recent activities regarding its high-performance GSE sub-brand.
In July, Vauxhall announced that the Mokka GSE – based on the Mokka GSE Rally prototype – will go into serial production as the fastest battery-electric Vauxhall and the first of a new breed of GSE models.
The GSE sub-brand launched in 2022 as a nod to GSi performance models from Vauxhall’s heritage while also complementing existing GS versions.
From now on, all incoming fast Vauxhalls will be purely battery electric, aligning with the brand’s plans to only offer fully electric vehicles from 2028.
The GSE moniker, which stands for Grand Sport Electric, denotes range-topping models that combine sharper looks and handling with electric powertrains. This initially included plug-in hybrids, such as the Astra GSe and Astra Sports Tourer GSE, alongside fully electric models.

The new concept advances this and will “explore the boundaries of battery-electric performance vehicles”.
Further details, along with the fully display of the new concept car, will take place at this year’s IAA Mobility in Munich from 8-14 September.
