EV fleet charging payments specialist Rightcharge has launched a new multi-network EV charging subscription solution that could cut fleet charging costs by more than a third.

The Gold Card, a bolt-on to the Rightcharge Standard Card, integrates cost-visibility tools with reduced charging rates across four partner public networks: Sainsbury’s Smart Charge, Ionity, BP Pulse and Be.EV.

It means Gold Card holders can access rapid/ultra-rapid charging for 59p/kWh and fast charging for 49p/kWh, a saving of up to 35% compared to standard PAYG rates on the same networks.

While most existing membership options are restricted to a single network, the Gold Card coverage extends across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland through the quartet of major charging partners.

Priced at £4.99 per driver per month, it delivers a lower membership price while offering four times the coverage. This bolt-on builds on the Rightcharge Standard Card, which provides PAYG access to 79% of the UK’s public charging network, as well as Rightcharge’s home charging reimbursement solution for fleets.

The new solution bolsters work by Rightcharge to build an intelligent platform that simplifies the charging experience for drivers. This means providing clear visibility into charging options, simplifying the payment process across multiple networks and eliminating the ‘decision fatigue’ that comes with managing different apps and pricing structures.

Charlie Cook, CEO of Rightcharge, said the Gold Card is the closest thing to making EV charging as straightforward as filling up at a petrol station.

“Public charging costs and complexity are two of the biggest obstacles to fleet electrification. With the Gold Card, we’ve built something that addresses both. It’s the first platform to combine multi-network access with transparent cost visibility for fleets; giving drivers the simplicity they need to make confident charging decisions, while delivering savings of up to 35% compared to standard PAYG rates.”

It’s already been piloted with the AA whose drivers have been highly positive about the experience and commented that the “availability and locations of the chargers have been fantastic” and there are “plenty of places to charge”.

Sam Biggs, roadside fleet manager at the motoring organisation, commented: “Reducing the cost of public charging is one of the biggest opportunities we have to accelerate electrification across our fleet, so we were keen to be part of the Gold Card pilot. What’s been particularly encouraging is how easily our drivers have taken to it; payment takes seconds and the charger locations work well for our drivers.”

The Gold Card is a bolt-on subscription to the Rightcharge Standard Card and can be applied to the drivers in a fleet who will benefit most.

It’s available as a £4.99 monthly bolt-on for existing Standard Card users, bringing the total cost to £9.98 per driver, per month.

As the Gold Card is currently in a beta launch phase, customers can access a 30-day trial. Early adopters will work directly with the Rightcharge team to shape the platform’s next phase and ensure the platform works for their operations from day one.

Looking ahead, Rightcharge will continue to develop intelligent tools that simplify charging decisions for drivers on the road and provide fleet managers with better cost visibility. Features in development include enhanced dashboard analytics showing real-time and historical charging patterns and automated savings reports.
