The 10 Nissan e-NV200 electric vans have already joined its fleet and will be joined by at least 40 more by 2020 in a move to reduce carbon emissions by 5% while generating cost savings of around £536,000 over the seven-year life span of the vehicles.

The firm, which has secured ‘Go Ultra Low’ fleet accreditation is also using fully renewable energy electricity from Engie to power its operational sites.

The move comes as Leeds City Council presses ahead with Clean Air Zone plans, with the preferred option to affect pre Euro 6 HGVs, buses, coaches, taxis and private hire although cars and LCVs were considered too.
