ChargePoint units will soon be available at Total forecourts.

The new units will form part of ChargePoint’s plans to have 2.5m locations worldwide by 2025, aimed at helping to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in the UK in line with the Government’s Road to Zero strategy.

Total is the latest fuel supplier to announce it will provide electric vehicle charging at its forecourts. Shell acquired Dutch company NewMotion late last year, followed by BP’s acquisition of Chargemaster in June. The manufacturer-backed Ionity network and ChargePoint Services in the UK also have agreements to install units on forecourts.

Mark Kerstens, vice president, strategic accounts, ChargePoint said: “The transportation landscape is evolving at a rapid pace and partnerships like this are essential to provide immediate, widely accessible charging solutions to support the ever-growing number of EV drivers on the road.”

Sion Roberts, general manager, Total Gas & Power, commented: “The relationship means our customers will have access to industry-leading EV charging technology that helps them meet the changing dynamics of vehicle fueling both for their staff and customers alike.”
